Little Folk Art Hotel del Coronado

Title: Little Folk Art Hotel del Coronado
Size: 6x6x1.5
Medium: Oil over acrylic on stretched canvas.
Date: 12/11/16
Mini-scape folk art painting of Hotel del Coronado with view toward  downtown San Diego, Julian and Point Loma, California.

I couldn't seem to get an accurate photo of this painting.  And photo editing was not of much help.   It looks fresher and more lively than it looks here.   For additional views and information, click HERE
Historic Hotel del Coronado is a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike.  Often referred to affectionately as "The Del",  the iconic resort hotel is also a film location, wedding venue, honeymoon destination and vacation resort offering fine dining, ice skating by the sea and a lovely,  broad, white-sand beach.  Hosting a large, decorated tree in its front lobby it is also a festive spot to visit during the Christmas holiday season.  For an interesting glance back in history and a timeline with photos of The Del, click HERE

This is going to sound silly.

But I have fallen in love with a painting; which is the reason it is posted as not available for purchase.  I even built a frame for it...which made me love it even more.

It isn't the first time.  And usually after spending "some quality time" with a painting I have fallen in love with,   eventually I can part with it happily.   After all, it's part of the process.

But for the time-being I am smitten and will continue sitting on my sofa and gazing lovingly into its eyes! Go ahead and laugh at my silliness.  I'm laughing too!

Note Cards Are For The Birds

The Little Dapper Bird  is one of the newest members of The Shores series note and greeting cards.  You can just  tell he has colorful opinions and stories to tell.

Each card in The Shores Series is made from a print of the 2010 oil painting, La Jolla Shores in the 1950s.

That's where I spent most of my childhood; in a lovely pink house with orange trees, green lawns, blue skies and a blue ocean in La Jolla, California.  One day I had the idea of turning a print of the colorful painting on its side and making candles for a friend's birthday card.  It became Birthday Candles! and from there grew into The Shores Series of greeting and note cards.

MOUSE PADS!

Remember the days of the trusty old typewriter...somewhere between the pencil and the computer?  They did not require the use of a mouse, a monitor nor hours of tech support.

With tongue in cheek and a nod to those simple, ingenious and reliable machines, I present....the Typewriter Mouse Pad.

I am a two-handed mouse user so I have one of each on my desk.  They look pretty snappy.
