Here is the finished Large Folk Art Hotel del Coronado.  (Previous post shows the original small version)  Subtle changes were made to the composition in order for it to carry this much enlargement (from 6x6 to 30x30)   I am relieved to have finished it in time for customer’s hoped-for Christmas deadline!  This is where she and her husband were married and is an anniversary gift for him.   

Custom Painting Projects

This is a picture of 6"x6" miniscape Little Folk Art Hotel del Coronado from 2016.  The customer who ordered the large version of miniscape Little Folk Art Hotel La Valencia ordered a large version of this 6"x6" painting as well.  There is a hoped for deadline of Christmas this time and I will be merrily working to meet it! 

Large Folk Art La Valencia Hotel -SOLD

Update to last week's post below: Here's how the 36x36" Hotel La Valencia turned out.  The customer was very happy and took it home on Monday. 

Thought I would post a few updates.

Will Wonders never cease... My little Wonder Bread art print from 2018, was selected to be a part of Wonder Bread Canada's 2023 fall ad campaign, It Starts with Wonder.  Although I won't be able to view it here in the U.S. , I like knowing my little print is off on this adventure.  The ad agency for the campaign contacted me out of the blue, something that would not have happened to me prior to the age of the internet.

And an Etsy customer requested I make a 36x36" version of my 6x6" painting Little Folk Art La Valencia! (original 6" version seen here)  I've needed to rebuild my painting-on-large-canvases muscles for this one. 

And another requested an even further miniaturized, framed print of the already diminutive 6x6" Little Folk Art Hotel del Coronado painting for her daughter's birthday, with a rather short turnaround.  I am still working on the large painting but tonight I finished the 3x3" mini mini framed print.

I hesitate to accept custom orders because they are full of surprises and take longer than I estimate and are therefore more costly to me.  But I have enjoyed these opportunities and doing something special for a customer to make them happy.

I'm kind of in love with moonstone succulent plants, among many others.  They have so much personality and variety.  Naturally I wanted to abstract it.  I did try to make it have at least a semblance to the actual plant.  They remind me of my mom, who had a brave little patch of them in the front of her home and who brought one to me one day since I was so fond of hers.
